Kenya is set to host the Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi on May 11 and 12, 2026, in a high-level gathering that will bring together African heads of state, business leaders, investors and innovators. The summit is being jointly hosted by Kenya and France, with Presidents William Ruto and Emmanuel Macron expected to lead the event.

According to the official summit website, the meeting will focus on Africa-France partnerships for innovation and growth, with discussions expected around key sectors such as energy, finance, agriculture, artificial intelligence, health, industrialisation and the blue economy. Organisers say the summit is intended to promote a more balanced and action-oriented partnership between Africa and France.
The two-day event will begin on May 11 with the Africa Forward Inspire & Connect Business Forum, which is expected to bring together more than 1,500 business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors, while a related Proparco notice says more than 2,000 African and European business leaders, investors and public decision-makers are expected in Nairobi for the forum. The business sessions will highlight private-sector projects, youth-focused initiatives and job-creating sectors including sports and the creative industries.
On May 12, heads of state, the African Union and top chief executives are expected to meet at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC) for plenary sessions, roundtables and a closing communiqué. The official summit website describes Nairobi as the host city for what it calls a historic edition of the summit, noting that it is the first time France is co-chairing the event with an English-speaking African country.
Preparations in Kenya are already intensifying. According to Citizen Digital, Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Korir Sing’Oei recently met the organising committee and called for stronger inter-agency coordination, clear communication and timely execution to ensure the summit is delivered smoothly. The report said the event is expected to attract more than 2,000 delegates, including government officials, private sector leaders, civil society representatives, NGOs and youth groups.
For Kenya, hosting the summit is likely to be seen as both a diplomatic and economic opportunity. Beyond the symbolism of welcoming major African and European decision-makers to Nairobi, the event is also expected to showcase Kenya’s role as a regional business hub and a leading player in innovation on the continent. That is an inference based on the summit’s agenda, venue and official messaging around trade, technology and partnerships.
